Steven Ganescu
President
I’m Steven Ganescu, and I am serving as the 2026-27 President of QGCS. I am a PhD Candidate in Amanda Bongers’ group, and I research how chemical diagrams are interpreted and used, analogous to learning a second language.
Renee Farrell
VP Internal
Hi! My name is Renée, and I’m the Vice President (Internal) for the 2026-27 school year. I am an MSc student in the Crudden lab, and my research focuses on developing surface coatings for reactive metals. Outside of the lab, I enjoy reading and watching documentaries!
Brandon Brendel
VP External
Brandon Brendel is a Master's student in Chemistry at Queen's University in the Crudden Research Group. He enjoys combining chemistry with creative problem solving, particularly in the development of advanced materials and surface coatings. Outside the lab, he enjoys fitness, hiking, gaming, and exploring new technologies.
Luca Corneo
VP Finance
Hi! I am Luca, the Vice President Finance for the 2026-2027 school year. I am an international PhD candidate from Italy, currently working in the Carrington group. I mash keys on a computer to simulate the dynamics of small molecules using quantum mechanics. Some things I enjoy in my free time are hiking, running, and listening to music.
Jaideep Mondal
VP International
Hi! I am Jaideep, a PhD candidate in the Evans group and this year's VP International Student Representative. My research focuses on developing transition-metal-catalyzed carbocyclization reactions. Outside the lab, I spend time reading and exploring the city.
Chathura Senaratne
Union Representative
Hi! I’m Chathura, the Union Representative for the 2026–2027 school year. I’m a PhD student in the Mosey group, where my research focuses on computational studies of electrocatalysts and photocatalysts for water splitting. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, biking, and playing any sport I can manage.
Jack Dukart
Secretary
Hey! My name is Jack and I am the secretary for the 2026-2027 school year. I am a Master’s student in the Lee lab where my research focuses on incorporating σ-hole interactions into biological systems. If I am not in lab you can usually find me watching a movie or hanging out by the water.
Jessica Ni
Events Coordinator
Hello! My name is Jessica and I am the events coordinator for the 2026-2027 school year. I am a Master's student in the She lab and my research involves examining the fate and effects of silver nanoparticles in premise plumbing conditions. Outside of the lab, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, and cooking.

Kayla Elliot

Hi! My name is Kayla and I’m the 3rd floor rep for the 2026-27 school year. I am a PhD candidate in the She Lab and my research focuses on developing electrochemical methods to detect and monitor for metals in drinking water. When I am not in the lab, I love reading, going to the gym, and taking long walks outside! 😊

Hi! My name is Meg and I’m the 5th floor rep for the 2026-2027 year. I’m a Master’s student in the Jessop lab and currently doing research on thermoresponsive polymer draw solutes for water purification. Outside of the lab, I like to play hockey, watch reality tv, and read!
